WHAT IS THE MANGUM FOUNDATION?

The Mangum Foundation was founded on the idea of helping people with physical and mental disabilities; soldiers; elders; veterans; the less fortunate; and the youth. Our organization believes that everyone should be able to receive assistance in rough times or situations of need. The purpose of the Mangum Foundation is to improve ties within the community, by involving citizens and unifying like-minded organizations.

The Mangum Foundation’s ultimate goal is to help build facilities in order to assist and accommodate the communities in Philadelphia.

THE FOUNDER

Tariq Mangum, of West Philadelphia, enjoyed sports and math as a child. In 2006, he was in a tragic car accident that changed is life forever. During his rehabilitation, Tariq had to learn how to breathe, talk and eat all over again. To date, he still hasn’t regained functionality in his legs, but because of his support system, Tariq has not allowed his accident or physical state limit his passion for business and community service. In 2012, Tariq Mangum founded Mangum Foundation to support veterans; persons with physical and mental disabilities; homeless persons; and youth; through activities, fundraisers, and year-round programming.
